Do you have smoke detectors in your house?  Have you tested them in the past six months?  Have you replaced the batteries?  Batteries should be replaced at least once a year. Please do this, it may save your families life!!

Do you have a carbon monoxide detector? Carbon monoxide is odorless, tasteless and can KILL you in your sleep! Please get one for each floor of your home.

Do you have a fire extinguisher in your home?  If not, Please Get one!!

Do you have an escape plan?  Be sure the whole family knows it and have a meeting place outside. Remember, get out and stay out to stay alive!! There is nothing worth going back into a burning building for. That's OUR job!!

Does your town have 911? If not do you have emergency numbers posted?  Post EMERGENCY numbers in red ink on the refrigerator or near the phone. Be prepared to tell the dispatcher your address and cross streets and the town you are in, (Cell Phones don't always trigger the 911 system correctly) return phone number and the nature of your emergency. If you are going on vacation, take two minutes out of your day to check over the place you are staying, This could save your life!

Have you had your chimney inspected? If not you should do so before heating season.
